Malaria kills 8 in Jambi

JAMBI, Jambi: At least eight people have died from malaria in the past eight months in Jambi province, a senior health official said on Saturday.

Chief of Jambi health office Oscar Karim said that six of the victims were children under 10.

Currently, 37 malaria patients are being treated in Jambi hospitals.

In order to prevent a malaria outbreak, Oscar called on Jambi residents to mind their sanitation. The health office has been carrying out mosquito fogging to combat the spread of the disease. -- JP
