Makro products
On Nov. 25, 1999, I purchased eight sweet rolls, No 22570628, with the health ministry's permit Number of 228309006258 at the Pasar Rebo branch of Makro's. Knowing that Makro is an international chain, I trusted its efficient management and, supposedly, well trained staff. Upon purchase, three of us ate the sweet rolls while inside the car that evening, without realizing that the product had expired and was moldy. I realized this when I arrived at home and gave them to my children. I was shocked to see the sweet rolls embedded with a white cotton-like substance around and under them.
As one of the old-time subscribers, I felt very disappointed and concerned about the possible germs which had entered my body. How could Makro management have such poor inspection and quality control? With the high cost of goods nowadays, we, the buying public, cannot afford to purchase products which eventually end in the trash bin. In most cases we consumers do not want to be bothered, so we just dismiss the idea of filing complaints. However, by keeping quiet we do not exercise our right as consumers, and the retailers will not improve their service.
With this incident, I hope that retail or wholesale establishments can implement better quality control so as not to jeopardize their consumers.
