Major firms take part in job expo

JAKARTA (JP): Asia Expo and PT Jobs DB Indonesia are holding a job fair called "Career 2000" on March 29 and March 30 to enable job seekers to meet prospective employers face-to-face and apply for jobs online.

Some 20 local and multinational companies, including Standard Chartered Bank, ABN Amro Bank, Toshiba, Super Italia, Lippo Land, Toyota Astra Motor and the recruitment offices of Auditsi Personnel and the Kemala Group, will be represented at the fair, which will be held in Plaza Bapindo.

It is aimed at professional people with at least one year's work experience, looking for a job or to better their careers.

PT Jobs DB Indonesia will provide 20 computers for easy access to their online database JobsDB.com.

"Job seekers can send applications via the Internet or be interviewed on the spot by participating companies," director of PT Jobs DB Indonesia Eddy S. Tjahja said at a media conference on Friday.

Jobs DB and its website JobsDB.com is an Internet recruitment company founded in 1998 in Hong Kong. It now has ten offices around the world, including one in Jakarta, and currently has some 12,000 job vacancies, 700 of which are in Indonesia.

Eddy claimed that the company had passed on at least 11,000 jobs applications through its portal for Indonesia in the last three months, 99 percent from Indonesian nationals.

PT Jobs DB hoped that the fair would further familiarize its portal with the Indonesian public and attract more companies to use its services.(10)
