Major carmakers help out Kia

SEOUL: Hyundai Motor and Daewoo Motor in South Korea have joined forces to help financially strapped Kia Steel. Kia Steel is one of the weak affiliates in the Kia Group.

Analysts say Hyundai and Daewoo's joint action is designed to block attempts by the giant Samsung Group to move in on Kia.
