Maid killed for refusing a kiss

JAKARTA (JP): A food vendor allegedly stabbed and killed a maid in a house on Jl. Makulo, Bumi Satria Kencana housing complex in Bekasi Wednesday after she refused a kiss from him. The suspect sold siomay (steamed dumplings).

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said yesterday the suspect, identified only as Ag, admitted Thursday to having killed 18-year-old Jamilah after being interrogated by police for about 27 hours.

Aritonang said Ag, who was delivering a food order to the house, arrived in the afternoon.

"Ag entered the house through the back door and met Jamilah who had just taken a bath," Aritonang said.

He said the suspect, who knew Jamilah's employer was not home, tried to hug and kiss the maid.

Jamilah resisted and shouted for help. Ag got angry and stabbed the maid with a knife, Aritonang said.

"She suffered 20 stab wounds to the body and head."

Aritonang said the suspect moved Jamilah's body to the bathroom and then left the house.

Jamilah's employer, identified as Feni, later met Ag in a stall near the house and asked about her food order, he said.

He said Ag, who pretended to deliver the siomay to the house, accompanied Feni to her house.

Feni entered the house and called Jamilah but she did not reply, he said.

Aritonang said Feni, accompanied by Ag, found Jamilah dead in the bathroom. Police questioned at least 12 people, he said.

Ag, whose alibi was unclear, finally admitted to having killed the maid, he said. (jun)
