Maid found dead in employer's home

JAKARTA (JP): A 22-year-old housemaid was found dead with foam oozing from her mouth at her employer's house in Jatiwarigin, Pondok Gede, East Jakarta, Friday evening.

Her female employer, Sarah, said the girl might have committed suicide with insecticide after being warned by Sarah's husband to be careful in her relationship with her boyfriend.

Eyewitnesses said the body of Suharti from Lamongan district in East Java was found by Sarah, who rushed home from work after a neighbor told her the house was in darkness.

Sarah said she was afraid something had happened to her property and the maid.

"I was afraid my house had been robbed and our housemaid had been kidnapped or killed," she said.

Sarah said she found the maid in the living room with a can of insecticide at her side and a note saying, "I am leaving, don't blame Sartono".

Sartono, a bakery seller, was believed to be the name of the maid's boyfriend.

Suharti will be buried in Lamongan.

Sarah said her family had no problem with Suharti.

"I was later surprised to find her so upset about my husband's remarks," Sarah said. (04)
