Mahaputri to hold international event

JAKARTA: Local women's basketball club Mahaputri Britama will
hold an international women's basketball invitation scheduled for
Aug. 9-12 at the Kelapa Gading Sports Mall in North Jakarta.

Club manager Dede Rahman said on Friday the Singaporean
national team and Thailand's top team, Bangkok Bank, had
confirmed their participation in the event.

"We also have invited clubs from Malaysia, Australia and the
Philippines but clubs in the last two countries decided not to
participate due to their tight competition schedules, while
Malaysia hasn't confirmed yet," Dede said.

The event would give local players an opportunity to test
their skills against foreign counterparts, he said. --JP
