Mahaka offers support to Perbasi

JAKARTA (JP): The 1999 Kobatama national basketball league winner, Mahaka Satria Muda, met National Sports Council (KONI) chairman Wismoyo Arismunandar at his office on Wednesday.

Mahaka was offering support to KONI and the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) to prepare players for the 2001 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur.

Perbasi official in charge of Kobatama Doedie Gambiro said the association would do its best to achieve better standings in the Games with the offer. The Indonesian team brought home a bronze in the 1999 Games in Brunei Darussalam.

Mahaka team manager Erick Tohir told Wismoyo that Mahaka was scheduled to meet President Abdurrahman Wahid due to the team's success in reaching the top position after it finished 10th in the 1998 league. (yan)
