Madura power by September
PAMEKASAN, East Java: State electricity company PLN will install two gas-fueled power plants for the blacked-out island of Madura, an official said on Sunday.
Head of PLN Java-Bali power distribution Rahmat Hariyanto told Antara on Sunday the two power plants were expected to start operating in September. The two generators have a total power capacity of 38 megawatts.
"We are looking for the most suitable place for the two power plants, but for the time being we have chosen Mandangin Island," Rahmat said after an Idul Adha (Islamic Day of Sacrifice) prayer here.
The power plants will be shipped from Gresik, near the provincial capital of Surabaya.
Rahmat said the generators would also distribute electricity to other parts of the province.
