Lufthansa to auction tickets

JAKARTA (JP): German airline Lufthansa will launch a live ticket auction through its local website www.lufthansa.co.id starting Sept 6. in a move to provide better service to its customers.

Lufthansa Indonesia general manager Tobias Ernst said in a statement that by conducting a periodic auction, his company hoped to attract more net users in Indonesia to visit and use its website for information as well ticket transactions.

"There will be 30 return tickets to be auctioned, with destinations such as London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Madrid, New York, Washington and Singapore. Successful bidders will receive a confirmation of their purchase by phone and e-mail," the company said in a statement.

To participate in the auction, potential bidders must register online at the website in order to receive a user ID. The website will list the schedule and flight details a few days prior to the auction, the company said.

Bidding for each return ticket will start from as little as US$10 and incoming bids will be in increments of $20, $30 or $50.

"The first auction will take place between 10:00 a.m and 4:00 p.m. Jakarta time," it said. (dmr)
