Lucky fans off to meet Beckham

JAKARTA: Chandra Kurniawan of Jakarta, Supanji Prayogo of Salatiga, Central Java, Ilham Hidayat of East Kalimantan and Denny Kurniawan of Bandung, will be meeting Manchester United star David Beckham after their names were drawn in a contest open to consumers of lubricant maker Castrol.

The four will depart for Britain on Tuesday along with another 46 contest winners from China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.

The fans-meet-star program, called the David Beckham Experience, will last for five days, during which the fans will be given opportunities to take part in a kick-around skills session, interview and a photo session.

Roy Philips, the marketing manager for PT Castrol Indonesia, said at a media conference here on Monday that the program was part of a two-year sponsorship deal with Beckham. --JP
