LPG for city buses

From Pelita

To reduce the air pollution level in Jakarta and its immediate environment caused by motor vehicles' exhaust fumes, I think it is high time big motor vehicles such as city buses used liquefied petroleum gas. Efforts to reduce air pollution in the form of mere slogans and statements are useless without a breakthrough in action.

The authorities could issue policies which bind public transportation companies to use this less polluting fuel. These efforts may encounter initial difficulties in their realization considering the high cost involved in the change. Public transportation vehicles, mainly big motor vehicles, currently use cheaper diesel fuel.

Nowadays only a few taxis use liquefied petroleum gas. I think the other public transportation vehicles should follow suit. Only then, will a cleaner atmosphere be created.
