Lost boots
On Jan. 10, 2002 I flew as a passenger on Dirgantara Air Service (DAS) Flight No. 3281 from Berau to Balikpapan. My luggage was a backpack, luggage label No. 008727. In a pocket of the backpack were a pair of olive boots, size 42.
When I collected my luggage in Balikpapan, the boots were gone. I at once went to the airport DAS office and reported the loss. One of the members of staff there, Mr. Siswoyo, allowed me to write a report of my complaint on the computer and I faxed it immediately to Chief Manager Mr. Ramly Effendy S. at the DAS headquarters in Samarinda. I asked him to send the boots to my address if found, or alternatively pay some compensation. The value of the boots was about Rp 650,000.
The DAS staff in Balikpapan also called the airport in Berau (only DAS operate there) to look for the boots. Surprisingly, they answered that they had not seen the boots.
Because I did not receive a reply from Mr. Ramly Effendy, I sent another fax from Bogor to him in Samarinda on Jan. 19, 2002, where I again explained the whole sad story.
Unfortunately, DAS has so far failed to respond.
