Logica opens RI office

JAKARTA (JP): Logica, an international computer consultancy, system integration and software company, will open a new office in Jakarta and intends to hire more than 30 people by July this year, the company said Saturday.

The company's regional managing director Peter van Es said that Indonesia represented a substantial market in South Asia for Logica.

He said that Logica planned to consolidate its position in the energy and utilities sector by offering technical expertise and professional project management skills.

"Indonesia has a rapidly expanding oil and gas industry which will soon be demanding many of the skills and services which Logica can provide," he added.

Founded in 1969, Logica has a staff of 5,500 people in 22 countries worldwide and has completed 15,000 projects in more than 60 countries.

The company's clients operate across diverse markets, including finance, telecommunications, energy, industry, government, defense and transport.

For the financial year ending June 30 last year, the company booked pretax profits of US$46.6 million on a turnover of US$562 million. (gis)
