Locals threaten to block Bojong plant

BOGOR: Residents near the Bojong waste treatment plant have threatened to block off the plant if it attempts a trial run on Wednesday, Detik.com reported on Saturday.

"We insist that the plant be relocated and refuse to allow it to be operated," said Erwin Usman of the Indonesian Forum for the Environment, which has been working with the Bojong residents.

Bojong residents attempted to block off the entrance to the plant on July 27 and July 29. In their last attempt on Friday, some 30 people from plant operator PT Wira Guna Sejahtera attempted to forcibly drive the residents off.

No injuries were reported in the clash. -- JP
