Locals complain over Sudirman Park

JAKARTA: Residents of Pasar Baru Timur in Karet Tengsin subdistrict, Tanah Abang district, Central Jakarta, have complained over the ongoing construction of Sudirman Park Apartments, the rubble from which they say has filled the drainage ditches on the sides of the road and covered road shoulders.

"As a consequence, the drain overflows when it rains. The water runs into my house sometimes," a local resident, Tarmat, 51, was quoted as saying by Tempointeraktif.com on Sunday.

He and other residents have raised the road surface to prevent rainwater running into their homes.

The residents also complained to the developer PT Surya Gading Mas Sakti, a subsidiary of Agung Podomoro Group, over the reverberation resulting from the installation of concrete piles that has caused their houses' walls to crack. -- JP
