Local best athletes nominees announced

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's gold medalists at the 1998 Asian
Games were named best male and female athlete nominees for the
1998 Best Sportspersons, staged by the Jakarta chapter of the
Indonesian Sports Journalists Association.

Windsurfer Oka Sulaksana, won gold in the men's IMCO heavy,
while Supriati was triumphant in the women's 10,000 meters run.

Men's doubles shuttlers, Ricky Subagja and Rexy Mainaky, men's
karateka Arief Taufan Samsudin, bodybuilder Asian Master Ade Rai
and Grand Master in chess Utut Adianto were nominated in the
men's category.

In the women's category, tennis player Yayuk Basuki, karatekas
Omita Olga Ompi and Sandra Aryani and women's doubles shuttlers
Elysa and Deyana Lomban were also nominees.

Antara said winners will be announced early next month in a
ceremony scheduled to be attended by President B.J. Habibie.
