Lippo to hold off-road race

JAKARTA (JP): The Cheetah Off-Road Racing Association, a member of the Indonesia Off-Road Federation, is staging an event at the Lippo Cikarang Off-Road Racing Track on Aug. 11 and Aug. 12.

It took two weeks for a bulldozer to make the track, which at eight kilometers/lap is the longest off-road racing track in the country. It is the first time a race will be held at the track.

SCORE off-road racing rules modified to accommodate local car models are being applied at the two-day event.

The organizers expect a good turnout. Most of the participating vehicles are four-wheel drive, although events for two-wheel drive utility cars are also being staged.

Entry in the race is Rp 200,000 per vehicle. Racers can register at Jl. Sunter Pulo Kecil Blok X3, No 21, Sunter Hijau, North Jakarta, tel: 6502834, or at the venue on Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. Further inquiries can be made at tel. (021) 4513377 - 4513380 or through fax. (021) 4513376.
