Lippo hosts Red & White jazz concert

JAKARTA (JP): Jazz lovers, listen up. A four-day jazz concert
featuring well-known musicians might be what is needed to cheer
you up and put to rest a lousy workday.

Red-and-White '99 jazz concert, organized in conjunction with
the country's 54th independence anniversary on Aug. 17, is held
for four consecutive days until Aug. 29 at Lippo Karawaci,
Tangerang, in cooperation with Ireng Maulana Associates.

According to the organizer, the concert is the first step in
the effort to make Lippo Karawaci the country's jazz hub.

In the coming years, the concert is expected to be able to
host quality foreign jazz musicians, such as performers from the
JakJazz festival.

Dixie Fantasy kicked off the concert on Thursday at Taman
Sari, while Jazz at the Sidewalk -- staged at Lippo Supermal --
will open Friday's concert at 4:30 p.m. From 7 p.m. until 11
p.m., Bill Saragih and His Juniors and Tamam Husein & Warna will
perform at Taman Sari.

On the same day at 8 p.m. there will be Jazzy Friday at
Laguna, presenting Karim Suweileh & Friends, at Lippo Karawaci's
Imperial Country Club.

On Saturday afternoon, Margio Segers-Kenny Jo will appear at
Lippo Supermal. Kiboud Maulana Blues Band, musicians Tohpati &
Bujana and jazz pianist Idang Rasjidi & Egg Plant will perform at
Taman Sari from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Sunday's performance starts with Ireng Maulana Dixieband
performing at the Imperial Club Golf at 11 a.m. In the evening,
Sunday Jazz will feature saxophonist Embong Rahardjo, jazz
vocalist Ermy Kulit and Ireng Maulana & Friends.

All of the performances, with the exception of a Rp 25,000
ticket fee for those at Taman Sari, are free of charge.
