'LinkNet' opens Yogyakarta branch

YOGYAKARTA: LinkNet internet service provider (www.link.net.id) officially opened its branch here on Wednesday, the second after the first opened in Surabaya last week.

Launch of the Yogyakarta branch was marked with a half-day seminar titled 'Widening Market Access Through the Internet'.

Communication experts Ashadi Siregar, Roy Suryo, internet experts Budi Rahardjo, Fritz Simanjuntak, and LinkNet managing directors spoke in the seminar.

Irfan Setiaputra, LinkNet's Managing Director of Corporate Services, told journalists the website provider deemed Yogyakarta as a city with good potential for internet business, as shown in the increasing number of internet users.

"So far, of the 20 to 25 people who have contacted us, nine have become subscribers," he said.

The Jakarta-based internet provider claims to have registered 200,000 subscribers since its inception on May 5, 2000. (23)
