Library gets bomb threat
JAKARTA: The silent atmosphere of a library on Jl. H.O.S. Cokroaminoto, Central Jakarta, owned by the U.S. Embassy was disturbed by a bomb threat at about 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The threat, however, proved to be a hoax after the police bomb squad was called in to search the building and found nothing suspicious, said Central Jakarta detective police chief Comr. Ch. Patoppoi.
The bomb threat was conveyed by a male phone caller who spoke to a library worker.
Patoppoi said the building and surrounding complex were declared secure by 5 p.m.
"Because there were only a few people working in the building, we just asked them to wait outside while the bomb squad was working," he added.
The library also received a bomb threat on July 31, 2001. -- JP
