Lewinsky sells Sydney home
SYDNEY (AFP): Monica Lewinsky has finally sold the apartment she owns in Sydney, a report said on Sunday, but given the below par price it is hardly likely she will be able to retire on the proceeds.
It is said the two-bedroom flat in the highly unfashionable outer suburb of Bankstown was the one in which Lewinsky offered former confidante Linda Tripp a share if she kept details of her affair with U.S. President Bill Clinton secret. Instead, Tripp told all.
The drab sixth-floor unit was bought in 1987 when she was 13 for A$55,000 (US$33,000) from money inherited from a Sydney-based relative and had been rented out for A$175 a week.
It was expected to fetch 150,000 dollars (US$94,500), cheap by Sydney standards, but finally went for just A$135,000 ($85,000), The Sun-Herald said.
