Legislature told to avoid tours

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Governor Herman Musakabe has asked the provincial legislature not to include comparative studies abroad on its agenda because they are too costly.

"We are now facing a monetary crisis, therefore we had better make comparative studies which we can afford and which will benefit development in this province", he said here while giving directives to newly elected Provincial Legislative Council members.

The governor was quoted by Antara as saying Monday that efficiency measures were the key to reducing spending during a crisis.

In addition, the governor asked the council to keep abreast of the public's demands as it was increasingly anxious about the province's exclusion from development. (mds)
