Legislators discus bills during recess
JAKARTA: The House of Representatives (DPR) is expected on March 6 to form a committee to deliberate a crucial bill on direct presidential and vice presidential elections.
House deputy speaker Tosari Widjaja said on Tuesday that the committee would appoint leaders and start work on the same day as its establishment.
Tosari said he hoped the committee could finish its work during the next House session from April 28 through June 25.
The bill on direct presidential and vice presidential elections, and the bill on the composition of the legislative bodies are the last two electoral bills to be deliberated by legislators.
Legislator Yahya Zaini, chairman of the committee deliberating the legislative bodies composition bill, pledged on Tuesday to continue working during recess.
He added that the team would commence its work by gathering input from experts and the public. - JP
