Legislator misses a beat on stage

JAKARTA (JP): Reading a faction's general response before a nationally televised audience is no easy task.

It becomes even harder when all the eyes of the nation are upon you and the first page of what is supposed to be read is missing.

Nurdiati Akma of the Reform faction looked quite distraught after she stepped in front of the podium to read her faction's official response and realized something was wrong.

Ducking the microphones she looked at her faction colleagues sitting in the front row: "Where's page one?"

After further flipping through her brief she found the text.

But her woes were not over. When she stepped down from the podium to her seat for a brief break to await the President's arrival, she tripped and nearly fell flat on her face.

Only some quick footwork allowed her to regain her composure from an even more embarrassing situation. (nvn)
