Legal awareness competition

JAKARTA (JP): Deputy Governor for Social Welfare Idroes opened
a legal awareness competition for families yesterday.

Governor Surjadi Soedirdja's said in his written address read
by Idroes that awareness and understanding of the law could be
improved through the Keluarga Sadar Hukum (Family Legal
Awareness) competition.

Surjadi said the competition aimed to speed up the process of
people understanding laws and regulations.

"Without awareness and understanding the supremacy of the law
and the principle of equality before the law cannot be realized,"
Surjadi said.

He said the government had an obligation to improve people's
knowledge about legal matters.

The competition involves many groups including soldiers and
mass organizations. (jun)
