Lee's contract yet to be extended

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Archery Association (Perpani) secretary-general Udi Harsono said on Monday that the body had yet to decide if it would extend the contract of South Korean coach Lee Jae-hyung to groom the 2001 Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian (SEA) Games athletes.

Lee, who coached women's archer Hamdiah for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, ended his contract with Perpani last November.

"We have not approached Lee to talk about the new contract. It depends on sponsors," he said.

Udi said he would ask for a lower contract value. Lee received US$3,000 monthly in the last contract term.

Sixteen archers from nine provinces have started their training programs for the biennial event to take place in September. The archers are currently financed by the National Sports Council (KONI) provincial chapters. (ivy)
