Leading RI brands make Superbrands list

JAKARTA: Nearly 30 leading brands owned by Indonesians or operating in the country have been named Superbrands by the world's leading independent arbiter of branding.

Superbrands International chief executive officer Victor Jeffery presented certificates during an upmarket presentation ceremony at Zoom Resto and Lounge in Central Jakarta on Wednesday.

The brands were: Adidas, Anlene, ANZ Bank, Avon, Bagus, Bimoli, Djarum, Dji Sam Soe, Energizer, Eveready, Garuda Indonesia, Goodyear, Great River, Indofood, Indomie, Indomilk, Metro TV, Nokia, Optik Tunggal, Tahapan BCA, Olympic Furniture, Satelindo, Shell Helix, Sony Ericsson, Sosro, Total Bangun Persada, Telkomsel and Yonex.

Founded in London 12 years ago, Superbrands has recognized and publicized the achievements of thousands of outstanding brands worldwide.

The Indonesian brands were evaluated and qualitatively assessed using the strictest criteria by a local Superbrands Council, which comprises luminaries in the branding, media and communications industries.

Superbrands was expected to name a further 72 Indonesian brands by the end of the year, for inclusion in a book to distributed worldwide. -- JP
