Leaders set up ethnic group forum

JAKARTA: Leading figures of several ethnic groups announced on
Friday the establishment of the Communication Between Tribes and
Ethnic Groups Institute.

The institute has been set up to promote a spirit of
brotherhood among members of different ethnic groups.

Institute chairman Jhon Kei said the organization was
established to help prevent the kinds of conflicts between ethnic
groups that have plagued the country over the past several years.

"We hope this institution can serve as a mediator and a medium
to unite all ethnic groups here," he said. -- Antara
