Leaders face hard times: Hamzah

MAGELANG, Central Java: Presidential candidate Hamzah Haz said on Monday it was not an easy time to be a national leader.

The country is currently facing major problems, including mounting foreign debt, unemployment, poverty, corruption and threats of terrorism, he said.

Hamzah, who is running for president on the United Development Party's ticket, did not say why he was seeking the presidency in the face of such daunting challenges. -- Antara
