LBH APIK helps migrant workers

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: The Legal Assistance Agency on Justice for Indonesian Women (LBH APIK) has provided shelter in Entikong, West Kalimantan, for troubled migrant workers.

"We decided to establish a center in Entikong because the town borders East Malaysia where many Indonesian migrant workers are facing trouble in their work place," LBH APIK director Hairiah said on Saturday.

The center will be operated to accommodate troubled workers and help handle their cases, she said.

In several cases, Indonesian female workers were often sexually harassed or abused by their employers and sent back home without payment after complaining. --Antara
