Laudable attitude

Some time ago a group of Chinese business people in Semarang denounced and condemned the re-export of government subsidized rice meant for distribution to the hungry masses. It was carried out by Chinese entrepreneurs.

In the past similar crimes were faced by the Chinese community with ear deafening silence as if it were not their concern. The looting of banks by Chinese bank owners, taking depositor's money from banks such as BHS and the Bank Pembangunan Asia to Hong Kong and changing the land title of government lands for their own benefit via collusion, are good examples.

The attitude of these gentlemen in Semarang is a step in the right direction, demonstrating commitment to this country as Indonesian citizens.
