Late-night romance ends in death

SEMARANG: A 30-year-old man was beaten to death early on
Friday morning after neighbors apparently became upset over his
late-night courtship of a woman living in the area.

Supriyanto, who during the day worked as a chauffeur, was
dragged from his girlfriend's house in Plokoran village, Jumo
Temanggung district, at about 1 a.m. and beaten to death by
locals.

Antara news agency reported that Supriyanto and Partinah, 25,
had a long-term relationship, and he often slept over at
Partinah's house.

However, Supriyanto's frequent late-night visits angered
residents in the area, who often warned Supriyanto not to spend
the night at Partinah's house.

It was during one of these late-night visits that Supriyanto
was dragged from the house by locals and beaten to death.

Police are investigating the incident.
