Laos joins ASEAN-Japan promo center

INDONESIA: Laos on Wednesday officially joined the Tokyo-based ASEAN-Japan Promotion Center on Trade, Investment and Tourism.

The inclusion of Laos was formalized when Laos Ambassador Leuane Sombounkhan signed the agreement in Jakarta, which acceded his country's participation in the Center.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by ASEAN Secretary General Rodolfo C. Severino and the Center's director, Ryo Imoto.

The Promotion Center was established in 1981 to promote export from ASEAN members to Japan, and to accelerate the flow of investment from Japan to ASEAN. -- JP
