Landslide victims still missing

PADANG, West Sumatra: As of Wednesday afternoon, rescue workers had yet to find two workers who went missing in a landslide in Bukit Ngalau, Lubuk Kilangan district, Padang, on Tuesday.

The landslide occurred in a clay and silica quarry owned by a PT Semen Padang, where construction workers continued to remove 150,000 cubic meters of earth covering the cement plant.

One of two survivors was slightly injured and the other is being treated in the hospital for a concussion and a broken leg.

Lubuk Kilangan authorities said the landslide occurred just as workers were preparing to start work on Tuesday.

West Sumatra Governor Zainal Bakar, accompanied by Semen Padang executives and the mayor of Padang, inspected the operation to locate the missing men. (28)
