Landslide kills at least three
DENPASAR, Bali: Three people were killed and another was missing on Sunday after a landslide destroyed their house in the village of Angansari in Bali, 75 kilometers northeast of here.
Antara reported on Tuesday that the bodies of I Ketut Srinadi, 60, and two of his grandchildren, three-year-old I Gede Partha and eight-month-old Ni Made Ratmiati, were recovered from the destroyed house. As of Tuesday rescue workers were still searching for two-year-old Kadek Sarga.
Srinadi's wife, Ni Wayan Kita, was seriously injured in the accident and is being treated at Bangli Hospital.
The five were in the house, which was located at the foot of a steep hill, when the landslide occurred, the spokesman for the Bangli administration, Ida Bagus Beratha, said.
The owner of the house, I Made Wirtama, who is Srinadi's son, and his wife were not at home when the landslide hit. The house was isolated from other houses in the village.
"Landslides on the hillside often occur when it rains, but this landslide is the worst," a resident said.
