Landslide disrupts telephone lines

JAKARTA (JP): A landslide on July 4 has disrupted more than 1,000 telephone lines in East Jakarta and Bogor, state telecommunications company PT Telkom said yesterday.

The head of the East Jakarta office, Laode M. Saleh, said the landslide disrupted telephone lines whose numbers began 870, 871, 872 and 8770.

Laode said the lines mostly belonged to customers in the Pondok Duta, Cengkeh Berbunga, PELNI, Mutiara Duta, Perindustrian and Taman Duta housing complexes, and areas in Cisalak, Bakti Jaya and Sugu Tamu subdistricts.

The landslide struck the Gandaria automatic exchange center at Kilometer 30 on Jl. Raya Bogor, he said.

"It'll take a week to repair the affected lines," Laode said, adding that the customers could call toll-free number 117 for information. (jun)
