Landslide damages three classrooms
BOGOR: Students of Public Elementary School No. IV in Hambalang village, Bogor, West Jakarta, are now having to share space after three of the school's six classrooms were damaged by a landslide on Sunday.
The slide knocked down the walls of the grade five and six classrooms. The second grade classroom remains intact, but its walls are badly cracked.
"We don't dare use the room as we are afraid that the walls might collapse," said the school's principal, Marzuki.
He added that educational activities for all grades were taking place as usual, with students taking turns using the school's three unaffected classrooms and the library, which had been temporarily converted into a classroom.
The landslide occurred at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday after three days of continuous rain. Aside from the school, 10 houses in the village were also damaged. --JP
