Lampung reaps US$108 from shrimp exports

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: Lampung province has earned foreign exchange revenues amounting to US$108.8 million in the first semester this year from the export of frozen shrimp, a senior official said on Friday.

The amount of money was from shrimp exports of 19,471 tons, said Suryono, the head of Trade and Industry Office at Lampung provincial administration.

The total was down slightly compared to the same period last year, which totaled 20,221 tons with foreign exchange value amounting to US$103.79 million.

With US$108.8 million in foreign exchange, the frozen shrimp business contributed 15.97 percent of total foreign exchange reaped by the province in the first semester this year, said Suryono. -- Antara
