Lampung print media suffering

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: At least half the 37 news publications in the province do not publish on a regular basis due to economic reasons.

Chairman of the Lampung branch of the Association of Indonesian Journalists (PWI) Harun Muda Indrajaya said the print media in the province comprised four newspapers and 33 tabloids.

"However, only 11 of the 33 tabloids are operating," Harun said as quoted by Antara.

He further disclosed that the number of journalists had risen in the last year. Unfortunately, there has been an alarming rise in the number of complaints from the public about the behavior of the journalists.

"If they commit any crimes, please do not hesitate to inform us," he appealed.
