Lack of breeding

In private most Indonesians think that they are the most civilized people on this planet. The broadcasting of the press conference of Amrozi televised also on CNN and BBC showed the contrary.

Like a general winning a war Amrozi stood there on the podium, complete with handshakes and smiles from the audience, as if he is not a criminal, but a hero worth our greatest admiration. In his speech Amrozi really did ask the public to admire him because he managed to kill so many for the sake of Islam.

Not many Indonesians felt how bizarre and uncivilized the show was. For the last 35 years we abandoned civil education and the result is this lack in our value system. We have a long way to go to retrieve our basic civilized values.
