Laborers jailed for murder
JAKARTA (JP): A court sentenced three construction workers to between 8 and 12 years imprisonment yesterday for deliberately killing a colleague.
Samsu bin Durja and Tarwin bin Turmat were each sentenced to 12 years after being convicted of murdering their fellow laborer Bandi, while Andi Suhendi was given 8 years for participating in the incident but not administrating a fatal blow.
The prosecutor had asked for jail terms ranging from 12 to 18 years.
The premeditated murder occurred on July 8 last year. It stemmed from frustration over continuous admonition from the defendants' supervisor when the latter often found construction materials were missing.
When a colleague, murder victim Bandi, was caught stealing a roll of underground electric wire, the three plotted to kill him. He was killed with a machete. (14)
