Laborers demand unpaid wages

JAKARTA (JP): Hundreds of workers of PT Maesa Maju, a garment factory in the village of Cicadas, Gunung Putri, Bogor, staged a rally at the town council hall on Friday to complain about unpaid wages.

The protesters told councillors that they had not received their salary from August yet as their employer had claimed to be in financial problems, Antara reported.

They said that if the factory were to be closed, the workers should be provided with sufficient compensation by the company.

A councillor, Tasiman, promised to summon the management and find out the real problems.
