Labor supplier in trouble

TANGERANG (JP): A labor recruiting company is in trouble for allegedly misusing a vocational training center in the posh Modernland housing complex to board 250 women seeking employment overseas.

The regency has threatened to close down PT Rajasa Intama if the company is found guilty of misusing its permit for the building and failing to provide training for the job seekers.

Government officials said the training center was closed to outside visitors and that the women, supposedly being trained for between two months and six months, were not allowed to leave the facility during training periods.

The head of the Ministry of Manpower's Tengerang office, Apon Suryana, said the building was simply not furnished to house the job seekers.

The company's management will be summoned to the manpower office for questioning, he said.

"If they are found guilty of violating the regulations, we will revoke their business permit," he said.

The company's director, Usman, admitted that he had no permit to use the facility to house the job seekers. (41/jun)
