KRHN calls for clear recruitment

JAKARTA: The National Consortium for Legal Reform (KRHN) demanded on Thursday that the House of Representatives adopt clear regulations to recruit justices for the Constitutional Court.

The Constitutional Court bill simply states that the President, the Supreme Court and the House are to nominate three justices each to fill the nine-strong court.

KRHN chairman Firmansyah Arifin suggested that the President, the Supreme Court and the House set up a joint selection team.

He said a joint team would result in the recruitment of justices who were relatively equal in capability and integrity.

Also speaking at the hearing was Fajrul Falaakh of the National Law Commission (KHN), who suggested that the bill avoid ambiguous wording when it came to regulations on the recruitment process of the justices. -- JP
