KPU hacker case goes to prosecutors
JAKARTA: The police have completed an investigation into Dani Firmansyah, 25, who is accused of hacking into the election website of the General Elections Commission (KPU) on April 17 and changing party names.
"We submitted the case and the suspect to the Jakarta Prosecutor's Office for further legal action," head of the cyber crime division at the Jakarta Police, Adj. Sr. Comr. Petrus R. Golose, said on Monday.
The police also submitted the evidence: a router; KPU log file; three Internet servers belonging to Warna Internet Cafe in Yogyakarta, PT Danareksa in Central Jakarta and KPU respectively; a file of online connections that had been made; software compact discs; papers and computer books.
Dani is accused of violating the Telecommunications Law and if convicted could fact a maximum sentence of six years in prison and/or a Rp 600 million (US$66,660) fine.--JP
