KPU, DPR to discuss seat allocation

JAKARTA: The General Elections Commission (KPU) said on Thursday it would consult with the House of Representatives over a controversial article in the 2003 elections law on the distribution of seats in the House.

KPU deputy chairman Ramlan Surbakti said the KPU had three alternatives -- seeking a Supreme Court opinion, seeking a government regulation in lieu of law and passing a KPU decree -- to resolve the controversy.

"We will hear from legislators first before making a decision," Ramlan said.-- JP
