KPK Questions Acting Cilacap Regent on Extortion Methods by Regent to Subordinates
During today’s examination of Ms AAF, her knowledge regarding these extortion practices was thoroughly explored, including whether they had also occurred in previous years or periods,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red White Building in South Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026). The KPK also examined several other witnesses today. These witnesses were questioned in depth about the flow of extortion orders by Syamsul. So far, the KPK has obtained witness statements that the extortion money collected in this case came from staff below them. Thus, the extortion in this case is tiered. “Collections from the staff below them range in value from three million to ten million. These are collected from several staff members,” he stated. After being examined, Ammy claimed she was unaware of the corruption modus operandi in this case. Ammy said she was only asked about her duties when she was the Deputy Regent of Cilacap. “I was just asked if I knew anything? Well, I don’t know anything. Then, what are the duties of the deputy regent? Who is she responsible to? Well, I am responsible to Mr Syamsul,” she said. “Then, what does the deputy regent do? The deputy regent’s job is to assist the regent. Assist him in whatever matters, whatever the regent wants, anything. Besides that, that’s it. Just like that,” she added. In this case, Syamsul and the Cilacap Regency Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono (SAD) have been designated by the KPK as suspects in the alleged extortion case. Both are charged under Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption. They are suspected of forcing Cilacap Regency officials to contribute money for THR ahead of Eid al-Fitr. The KPK seized Rp 610 million during the raid on Syamsul and others. Syamsul had set a target for obtaining THR money to be distributed to the Forkopimda, with the target amounting to up to Rp 750 million.
