KPI urged to act against TV stations
JAKARTA: A number of people urged the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) on Wednesday to punish television stations that were in violation of broadcast regulations.
"It is the KPI's duty to issue guidelines and directives for the stations. The KPI should not disappoint us," the deputy chairman of House of Representatives Commission I on information, security and political affairs, Effendy Choirie, said.
The chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection, Seto Mulyadi, agreed, saying there had been no sanctions against stations in violation of regulations governing the broadcast of violent programs.
"We urge TV stations to stop airing programs that show violence because this is harmful to children," Seto said.-Antara
