Korindo opens oil palm farm
JAKARTA (JP): The Korindo Group, through its subsidiary PT Bangun Kayu Irian (BKI), plans to set up an oil palm plantation covering an area of 47,000 hectares in the districts of Aitinyu and Teminabuan in Sorong, Irian Jaya.
Company president Lestuni said that the company was now awaiting the approval of the Ministry of Agriculture to develop the oil palm estate.
PT Tuna Sawa Erma and PT Batu Makmur, both of which are subsidiaries of the group, have also developed a 3,000 hectare oil palm plantation in Marauke, Irian Jaya, he said. (aly)
